Q. The 3 or more objects must have to be product each with a different technique? Or the techniques of production can be copresent in one or all the objects?

A. It's a choice of the designer. The techniques can be copresent in the same objects or be freely present in the set.

Q. I don't understand what you mean with "set", can you make some example?

A. For example, we draw up a list in different work areas: bathroom (a set with soap holder, brush, towels); kitchen room (a set with cutting board, knife, flatware); in the car (a set with petrol can, funnel, cleaning cloth), etc.

Q. The objects must have different functions? Or I can realise, for example, 3-5 coffee cups, and consider it a set?

A. The objects must have different functions.

Q. The 3 objects must have indipendents and complete functions? Or the pieces of the set can make an unique final objet?

A. The different pieces of the set can make an unique final object.

Q. I don't understand, often the chioce of a tchnique is only an issue of numbers, one object can be realised with the same mould or product with a machine of numbers control, or turned on a lathe, and then handmade. At the end, what will be evaluated is the final look, regardless of the technique of production, which is binded to economics logics of price of the final product.

A. Thank you! The question gets the point! The competition wants to stimulate the participants to try to reverse the mechanisme described in the same question. The traditional technique system for the production of objects begins from a number calculation (how many pieces I have to product), which is before the profitability evaluation (what technique I have to use so that the gain is maximize. The theory of the competition, instead, is that every technique systheme (of art, handcrafs, serial Design) must have, regardless of economics logics, its exactly collocation for "Make things", satisfying the final user in his human aspect, poetic and narrative (to cite Deyan Sudjic: "Designer is who has something to say"). This competition was born and want to be a place of experimentation and debate, not a tank of project straightly transferable in the market.

Q. Can I insert in the board pictures of prototype or objects already product with sketch or rendering of object not already product?

A. Yes. The boards must have made in this format: A4 horizontal within, chosen by the designer, different visual materials: drafts, photo, drawings, rendering, written. It's important to insert the description of the project in the field on-line, keep the 800 - 1000 characters, including spaces.

Q. To partecipate to the competition, is it necessary to own the physics prototype of the suggested project?

A. No, it's not necessary to own the project, it can be only drawn or rendered.

Q. When the acession process begins?

A. It takes place only on-line. From 01st may 2011 it will be available a form on-line that allow the enregistration, and this system will allow to register in a data base all the registered, so that to semplify the secretary's practices. You will receive a inscription confirmation as soon as the registration will be verified by the secretary.

Q. The same designer or a worker group, can participate with 3 different set that belong at the same environment? For example, if the environment is the kitchen, the first set is made by the cutting board, the knife, the flatware, the second by moka, the coffee cup, and the spoon, and the third by peninsula for breakfast, stool and tray.

A. In this case, it must be considered like a unique maxi project (9 or more pieces). They belong to the same environment, than it is a unique set, also if they satisfay different functional necessity (but adjacent).

Q. Is it possible to present for the competition 3 watches that have 3 different graphic? Or 3 table lamp?

A. Only 3 table lamp, or only 3 watches don't satisfy the exigences of "set" because they don't answer to different funcionality.

Q. The objects can exist in form of prototype or be already in production? Or are accepted only projects (I mean objects planned, but not yet realised)?

A. Only objects planned ex-novo, not yet realised. Like every competition, the "originality" and the "news" of the proposition are fondamental elements (evidently a cutting board already exist like iconography and collective image; the important is not to work in a cutting board that already exist).

Q. The objects that compose the Set (normally intended like set of tools that allow to perform an activity), must have a funcional connotation? Being objects of use?

A. They must be objects of use, but we are available to a wide vision of "use"; emotional use, esthestique use, comtemplative use.. we remember that the concept of "use of the object" doesn't include only the satisfaction of primary necessitie, but its presence in the everyday life include also emotivity, sens of appartenance, memories...

Q. Do they refers to an unique activity (es. kitchen instruments, travel accessories, ...)?

A. The concept of "set" impose a overall use in the same constest funcional/spatial.

Q. The objects must demonstrate of being thought by using contemporary productive techniques that belong to different wordls (art, handcraft, industry): that means that the techniques used to realise them must refers to all the 3 sectors named (es. objects realised in die and then handmade decorate)?

A. The 3 technique can be compresent in the same objects, or in the set. The importance is that in the set of 3 or more objects all the 3 techniques are present.

Q. The jewel is included in the competition? Is it coherent to the theme proposed?

A. The jewels is coherent; is one of the modality to decorate the corp; we remember that some tipology of decoration of the corsp (tattoos, piercings, branding, sunglasses, ...) have determinate important changes in the identity and in the behaviour models of individuals, and, by reflect, in the human community.

Q. I couldn't be able to join it in time because of... es. internet connection or other, can I still join it?

A. All the inscriptions arrived after 12h of 30 juin wil be not included in the competition.
