SIGH

Making things is about ideas. If you can imagine a shape you will be able to bring it to life. At the beginning of the creative process is the intense situation of the painter/writer in front of the white canvas/paper.

The SIGH objects are enlarged crumpled papers, which carry the symbolic connotation of the „unsuccessful draft“. They depict the moment in which the creator turns away from his idea and yet creates a shape of some degree of perfection. Formally the paper has gone from two into three dimensions under the force of an expressive individual power. The moment of despair has materialized  - in a handcrafted technique producing very personal pieces.

They also remind us of geological forms like rocks. In their function to serve as seating furniture they give the person who rests on the SIGHs the position to overlook and contemplate the landscape of its surrounding. The SIGH objects can be seen as independent art objects as well as a set of unique handcrafted stools.
